One of the largest beverage distributors in Tennessee, Det Distributing provides over 100 different brands of beer and bottled water to 20 counties.
The History of DET:
- August 8, 1951: E.E. "Det" Dettwiller founds DET as a distributor for Schlitz and Sterling beer.
- 1960s: Miller Brewing Co. products are added.
- 1973: Upon his father's death, Fred Dettwiller buys DET Distributing.
- 1995: DET becomes the first Tennessee beer distributorship to acquire a wholesale liquor license, forms Omni Beverage Company for wine and spirits.
- 1998: DET carries over 100 brands, making it one of the largest distributors in Tennessee.
When Fred Dettwiller purchased DET Distributing in 1973, it employed 23 people and operated from cramped quarters on Clinton Street in Nashville.
Today, it has over 150 employees, and operates from headquarters in MetroCenter, designed as a beer distributor from the ground up.
